Our team

SVID was founded by Audra Viehland and Michelle Sabin. They began their collaborative studio practice in 2020, with the shared goal of making beautiful, livable spaces that improve the well-being of people. Along with our team and local network of trade partners and trusted vendors, we aim to share our collective creativity and design knowledge with our clients. Sabin Viehland’s work has been featured in Cottages & Gardens, Litchfield Magazine, and Apartment Therapy.

Audra grew up in Lake Charles, LA, and graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. After moving to New Orleans in 2006, she spent several years working on various hospitality and commercial interiors projects throughout the city and achieved an NCIDQ certification. In 2010, Audra and her husband, Joel, relocated to Washington, CT, to open Community Table Restaurant and later, Swyft Restaurant in Kent, CT. Audra's Southern roots, travels through Europe and Mexico, and recent relocation with her family to Santa Barbara, CA, deeply inform her love of details, color, and sense of hospitality.

Michelle hails from Montana, and studied Interior Architecture at the University of Oregon, where she also spent a semester in Kyoto, Japan, studying the city's gardens and temples. After graduating, she relocated to Brooklyn, NY and later Litchfield County, Connecticut. She has worked on a variety of residential and hospitality projects at Alexandra Angle Interior Design, Ingui Architects, and Peter Talbot Architects. Michelle loves thoughtful, well-crafted spaces and enjoys working closely with clients and artisans to bring designs to life.

In 2024, Sabin Viehland expanded into a bi-coastal practice, with Michelle Sabin leading the CT studio and Audra Viehland heading up the Santa Barbara outpost. Sourcing vintage across both coasts has been amazing, and we are so inspired by the fresh variety of design we have found. Both of our studio practices are supported by a talented, focused team whose expertise and hospitality shape each project.
